Every year, the Rhode Island Service Alliance organizes several events that highlight national service programs in Rhode Island. The events include AmeriCorps Opening Day, held in the fall, and Arts and Service Symposium for AmeriCorps members in the spring. The Service Alliance also provides fudning for special MLK Day events. In 2006, we are providing $3,000 for a collaborative projects undertaken by 8 of our grantees and several community partners.

2005-2006 AmeriCorps Opening Day event was held on November 5, 2005 at Brown University. George S. Lima led a swearing-in ceremony for AmeriCorps Members. Ed Cordoza, Development Director at the Boston-based Partners in Health, delivered a keynote address.
