May 11-18 is National AmeriCorps Week. Join us on May 12 for our Second Annual Recognition Breakfast to celebrate the achievements of organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to local communities through national and community service. Honorees include Tom Lew of  Mount Hope Learning Center and Heather Driscoll of Brown University's College Guides, recipients of the Exemplary AmeriCorps Member Award; Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership (1st annual Call to Service Award); Simon Moore, founder of College Visions (Outstanding AmeriCorps Alumni Award); Sodexo (Corporate Leadership in Community Service Award); and Rhode Island Campus Compact (Outstanding Service Partner). Later that day, join us at 6:05 p.m. at McCoy Stadium for the Pawtucket Red Sox AmeriCorps Family Fun Night. Members will gather at 5:15 and march on the field at 5:30. You can also reserve a limited-issue Rhode Island AmeriCorps T-Shirt, sure to become a collectible! Adult and kid sizes are avaialble.

On May 14, AmeriCorps members and supporters will cometogether with members of the Brown University community for a Film Night on Brown University campus. Dinner will start at 6:30, followed at 7:15 by a screening of American Idealist: The Story of Sargent Shriver.
